Call for Fellows
The United Nations Major Group for Children and Youth is the United Nations General Assembly-mandated, official, formal and self-organised space for children and youth (under 30) to contribute to and engage in important policy processes at the UN. The entity acts as a bridge between young people and the UN system in order to ensure their right to meaningful participation is realized. It does so by engaging formal and and informal communities of young people, in the design, implementation, monitoring, and follow-up and review of sustainable development policies at all levels.
You would be joining and contributing to a UN entity that, since 1992, has consulted with more than a billion youth through 6,500+ youth entities in over 170 countries and territories. We engage in more than 80 processes at the UN.
Seeking volunteer fellows for 5 different positions: Communications, Media, Operations, Rapporteur, and Policy.

All positions are based in New York City. We will not be able to sponsor individuals for a visa at this time.
At any given time, United Nations HQ in New York City has several dozen meetings: plenary session, side event, high level event, closed door discussions, closed door negotiations, bilateral meetings, committee meetings, and so many more.
Responsible for research and attending around 5-15 meetings every day at the discretion of the team and supervisor; will take meticulous, verbatim notes of who said what; and possibly deliver statements written by the entity.
Responsible for communicating with the UN system to assist triaging which events the entity's Administrator should attend; communicate with various stakeholders within and outside of the UN system to schedule the Administrator's participation. You may seek out meetings with Permanent Missions, UN agencies, or high-level member state officials on behalf of the Administrator. You may assist drafting speeches or statements for the Administrator.
You will attend as many engagements as useful with the Administrator. You will provide a biographical (i.e. who's at this meeting), topical (i.e. background on what is being discussed at this meeting), and historical (i.e. what is the historical stance of the government/agency that we are meeting on the topic of the meeting) briefing for each engagement.
Seeking a committed, reliable and task-oriented individual for the position of Operations Fellow. Successful candidates will have at least 3-months work experience, and preferred proficiency in Squarespace, MailChimp, and G Suite.
The fellow will work directly with our leadership, and will be responsible for performing a number of operations and administrative duties. The ideal fellow is skilled at managing a multitude of requests from various people at the same time, effectively organizing work and communicating in a professional and informed way with both external and internal constituents.
Responsible for executive assistance; database management; email management; and website management.
Seeking a driven, results-oriented leader for the position of Communications Fellow. Successful candidates will have at least 3-months work experience in digital marketing, branding, and/ or communications, and be working towards a degree in a related field.
Familiarity with social media and marketing platforms, i.e. Twitter, Facebook, MailChimp, Eventbrite, Instagram. Familiarity with website management platforms is a must. Responsible for market research and strategy; day-to-day management and content scheduling; and administrative tasks.
Seeking a creative, reliable, and flexible individual for the position of Media Fellow. Successful candidates will have minimum three-months work experience in graphic design and/or branding, and be working towards a degree in a related field.
All candidates must attach a portfolio of their previous work (graphic, visual or interaction) to their resume/CV, or will not be considered for the position.
Proficiency with the Adobe Creative Suite: Illustrator, Photoshop and InDesign; Familiarity with website management programs and email marketing services. Responsible for multimedia and graphic content creation for digital campaigns.
