SAS Brasil Against Covid-19

Location: Brazil (focus: poor communities in São Paulo and Rio de Janeiro)

SAS Brasil is an NGO, founded by two young leaders Ms. Sabine Zink and Dr. Adriana Mallet, which aims to bring medical care to needy communities. The SAS team makes expeditions all over the country taking specialized medical care (even surgeries) always with great joy and happiness.

During the Corona Virus crisis and with the Brazilian health system scenario collapsing, SAS adapted its TeleMedicine system to provide care to the population. Medical and psychological care is provided through video calls, which helps people to avoid having to go to the hospital unnecessarily, avoiding the spread of the virus. In addition, SAS maintains a partnership with health professionals from the local community to help the telemedicine doctor in more urgent cases (check blood pressure, oxygenation, etc.).

With the growing demand for care, SAS is expanding its actions to several communities and training new volunteers who work in scheduling appointments and medical care. Emergency cases, such as cardiac arrests, are not attended by the SAS team that guides the search for specialized assistance (ambulance). Suspected cases of COVID-19 have priority for medical scheduling.
