Student Volunteer Army

SVA Grocery Delivery Service

Location: New Zealand

Faced with the pandemic lockdown, many people in New Zealand - notably over 65's, people living with a disability or medical condition, solo parents and essential workers - would struggle to get food. The Student Volunteer Army appealed for volunteers across the country (and received 3000 responses!), partnered with a nationwide supermarket and created a grocery delivery service. The Student Volunteer Army built an online store with a secure payments system, to allow these at-risk groups to select what they needed and pay for it safely from their home. The order was then routed to their closest partner supermarket, handed to a volunteer to be picked and delivered safely and contactlessly.

Support

We are facing a significant shortfall. There is demand to keep this service going across New Zealand but we are searching for funding in order to be able to expand the team to support it.
