Project Kababata: Kalinga sa Bawat Bata is a joint advocacy initiative by the Sigaw ng Kabataan Coalition - Western Visayas and the Global Institute for Youth Development to protect the overall well-being of children and the pursuit of continued education by providing alternative learning materials to harness their potentials.

In many circumstances, especially with the prevalence of trial, it takes more than one person to make a great impact. As it is said, it takes a village to educate a child.

Due to the Covid-19 pandemic, a severe disruption is felt by many families around the world. It is not only a massive shock to the economy and the health sector, but also to children’s social life and learning as many schools are not accessible. However, we believe that education is not just about being in school; wherever we are, learning is constant. It is essential to provide good and relevant education at these trying times, and everyone in the society is a stakeholder for the children of the communities.

The project is already being implemented in several localities nation-wide, in partnership with the Sangguniang Kabataan, including:
1. Aklan
2. South Cotabato
3. Roxas City, Capiz
4. Kiangan, Ifugao
5. Mexico, Pampanga

We are also in the process of reaching out to more communities to widen the project’s reach.

Support

The project core team is still in need of:
1. Financial and material support
2. Partner organizations (local implementation)
3. Additional field volunteers
4. Endorsement from government agencies (i.e. Department of Education, NYC, DILG, etc.)

Other needs: Access to information, Space for online meetings
