Due to Covid-19's nation wide lock-down the migrant workers in our country were left homeless and hungry, without any jobs to feed themselves and their family. More people in India die out of hunger and undernourishment/malnourished than any other disease, India ranks 100th on the global hunger index.

Me and my team of volunteers decided to raise funds to buy food kits for migrant workers and the poor, as food is an essential necessity for a human to thrive. We were able to provide food kits (Rice, Wheat, Pulses, Oil, Salt, sugar, Spices etc) along with soap for sanitation, to about 230 families with minimum 4 people/family that will last for about 1 month (30 days) and another 53 rice bags to 53 widowed and disabled women. It was a huge challenge to raise funds I must say and also be able to carry out the donation in this pandemic, to maintain social distancing and follow a protocol so the drive doesn't aid in the spread of the disease but helps the cause.

With the help of family and friends we were able to successfully continue our work and now we plan on a donation of about 400 reusable masks to the street hawkers which are sewed by tailors, hence creating a job for the poor and also spreading awareness about the precautions against the spread of the disease and instructions on how to wash the masks.

We are soon going to be a part of Rotary organisation (paper work is in process) and we hope to make a bigger impact and may this only be the beginning of a new age where youth can come together and create a huge impact.

We are trying to raise funds for a sapling drive where for every person who buys a plant, 1 pair of reusable masks and a food kit for street hawkers and their families will be donated. Reaching the budget for masks is easy but for food kits it is difficult. We are hoping enough people will participate and buy plants and also donate for the food kits. We are also trying to give small cash/gift prizes for the people who can come up with best way to recycle something and plant their sapling in it, hence reducing waste and planting trees while the production of masks creates employment and food kits help with hunger.

Other needs: Access to information, space for online meetings.
